6 Different Types of Cleanses

If you are thinking of going on a cleansing diet, then you may be wondering which one is the right one for you. Your body can have a multitude of parasites causing conditions like fatigue, brain fog and dozens of other symptoms. Therefore, the key is not to eat processed foods, carbohydrates, grains sugar or drink any alcohol for between five and six weeks. Since parasites can live as eggs in your body, it is essential that you go on and off this cleansing diet until you have the parasites all killed. Another important element of this cleanser is to support your liver by making sure to stay well hydrated.

Colon Cleanse

Cleansing the colon can help with bowel problems and with constipation. Some claim that doing a colon cleanse also helps remove parasites from the body.


While there are several specific plans available, there are five basic principles to employ when doing a colon cleanse.

  • Make sure to stay well hydrated by drinking lots of water and by eating fruits and vegetables that are high in water content.
  • Start and end your day by drinking a glass of lukewarm water with two tablespoons of Himalayan or sea salt dissolved in it.
  • Eat a diet high in fiber to help build a healthy colon and to help build gut bacteria.
  • Include lots of juices and smoothies in your diet including those where the skin is left on the fruit or vegetable as that is where lots of fiber is found.
  • Eat a variety of foods that have resistant starches like waxy potatoes, rice, and legumes.

Liver Cleanse

The liver acts as the body's central processing unit as it purifies 1.5 liters of blood each minute along with controlling over 500 biochemical metabolic reactions. Liver flushing removes toxins and cholesterol from the body. It also helps the gallbladder to work better. Many experts recommend doing a colon cleanse followed by a liver cleanse.


One way to do a liver cleanse is to start by drinking a glass of water. Then, 60 minutes later drink a glass of freshly squeezed juice with the juice of one lemon, one garlic clove and one tablespoon olive oil added to it. Then, drink another glass of water. This procedure should be repeated for five days with an additional garlic clove added each day. Throughout the day, drink liver detox tea. On the first two days, you should eat only raw foods while on the last three days, you should do a juice fast.

Master Cleanse

The master cleanse, often called the lemonade diet, is designed to help people lose weight in a hurry. Start by drinking an eight-ounce glass of water with two teaspoons of non-iodized sea salt dissolved in it. Then, drink between 60 and 120 ounces of a special lemonade throughout the day. Each 10-ounce glass of lemonade should be made by combining two tablespoons organic fresh-squeezed lemon juice, two tablespoons organic maple syrup and 1/16 teaspoon cayenne pepper. It is also advisable to drink organic peppermint tea throughout the day. Just before bed, enjoy a cup of tea with senna-based tea.

Green Smoothie Cleanse

Other cleanses focus on consuming just one type of food such as green smoothies. The green-smoothie cleanse may quick-start a weight loss plan and help to get rid of brain fog. Smoothies made of spinach, kale and other leafy greens combined with particular fruit combinations are drunk over the course of ten days. Participants are encouraged to eat crunchy vegetables along with yogurt, unsalted nuts, and hard-boiled eggs whenever they are hungry.


While this cleanse is designed to help people lose weight quickly, the emphasis of this cleanse is to start a new healthier lifestyle. Make sure that you drink lots of water so that your body stays hydrated throughout the ten days.

Juice Cleanse

One of the most popular types of cleanses is a juice cleanse. It is designed to help you reset your diet so that you emerge eating a healthier diet at the end. Depending on the type of diet that you currently consume, it is recommended that you spend two to seven days concentrating on eating a healthier diet before you begin.


You should start each day with a glass of lukewarm water with a little lemon in it. Then, drink about 14 ounces of juice every 150 minutes. While there are many commercially available juices to try, you can also make your own combinations at home. For example, you may want to combine two green apples, one cucumber, three stalks of celery, eight kale leaves, 1/2 lemon and a piece of ginger.
