Standardisation is a process for factories, not for farms. To make produce look identical, many large-scale brands use:

  • Artificial humectants: Such as glycerine, to force fruit to stay "soft and sticky" regardless of its age.

  • Polishing agents: To give nuts a synthetic shine.
