Honey FAQs

What is raw honey? It's honey that hasn't been heat-treated or finely filtered, so it keeps more of its natural pollen, enzymes and aroma. It's more likely to set or crystallise over time, which is a sign it's unprocessed.

What does MGO mean on Manuka honey? MGO measures the level of methylglyoxal, the compound Manuka is known for. A higher MGO number means a more potent honey; lower grades like 40 and 70 suit everyday use, higher grades like 250+ are stronger.

Is honey vegan? No, honey is made by bees, so it isn't vegan. If you'd like a plant-based alternative, we stock dandelion flower syrup, which works similarly as a natural sweetener.

Why has my honey gone hard? Crystallising is natural, especially with raw honey, and doesn't mean it's gone off. Stand the jar in warm water and stir gently to bring it back to a runny texture.
