What Is Chopped Mixed Peel?

Our mixed peel is a mixture of oranges and lemons. The outermost, coloured part of the peel is known as the zest, which is scraped off and is used for its tangy flavour. The fleshy white part of the peel is always bitter when raw, but becomes sweet when candied, a process involving boiling with sugar.

Why Should I Get Chopped Mixed Peel ?

Chopped mixed peel is great for adding a bit of extra zest and texture to baking, and classically used in holiday baking. Fruitcakes, hot cross buns and Christmas puddings were traditionally made well in advance of the holiday.
