What Is Organic Pinhead (Coarse) Oatmeal?
Coarse oatmeal (also known as Pinhead oats) are basically diced wholegrain oats. They are especially suited for making porridge, oaty grits, flapjacks and Veggie Burgers and should always be used over regular oats for such purposes.

To make porridge: Add a cupful of oats to a pint of water in a saucepan and bring to a steady simmer for 10 minutes. Add milk and bring back to a simmer before serving with fruit or honey to taste. To Make Biscuits& flapjack mixes: Soak the oats and Mix butter and molasses in a pan and heat gently. Add the oats, together with raisins and other fruits and cook for 10 minutes. Spoon the mixture onto a baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes. To make veggie burgers: Soak the pinhead oats for 30 Minutes - 1 Hour, Cook potatoes, carrots, leeks and other vegetables for flavouring. Mash the potato finely and chop the other vegetables. Fry garlic and onions and stir in the mix. Add a cupful of pinhead oats to a saucepan, cover with water and bring to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes. Combine all of the ingredients and form into patties. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, or fry in a pan.
