What Is Borlotti Beans?

The borlotti bean is a variety of common bean first bred in Colombia. It has multiple names, also known as the cranberry bean, Roman bean, romano bean, saluggia bean, gadhra bean or rosecoco bean.

The borlotti bean is a variety of the cranberry bean bred in Italy to have a thicker skin. It is used in Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, and Greek cuisine.

Fibre-rich protein source. Add to vegetable stews to add texture. To Cook: 1. Rinse beans 2. Soak for 4-6 hours (or overnight). 3. Place in a pot and cover with water above the beans. 4. Boil for 45-60 minutes and ensure that there's always water in the pot. 5. Add more if necessary.

Storage Instructions: 

Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat and damp.
