Our Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) is food grade and comes in 500g, 1kg, 2kg and 3kg pouches plus a 25kg trade sack, so you can buy a pouch for the pantry or a sack for the whole house.
How to use it
- Baking: a raising agent for soda bread, cookies and gingerbread – it needs an acidic ingredient such as lemon juice or buttermilk to react.
- Cleaning: a gentle, non-toxic abrasive for tiles and worktops; mix with vinegar to unblock drains.
- Bath bombs: combine two parts bicarbonate with one part Citric Acid (Food Grade) for a fizzing soak.
Store it in a cool, dry place away from damp and reseal after use – moisture is what triggers the fizz, so keep the powder dry until you need it.

Sodium Bicarbonate FAQs
Is bicarbonate of soda the same as baking soda? Yes, they're two names for the same thing: sodium bicarbonate. Note it's different from baking powder, which is bicarbonate of soda already blended with an acid.
What's the difference between bicarb and baking powder? Bicarb needs an acidic ingredient (like lemon juice, buttermilk or yoghurt) to react and raise a bake. Baking powder has the acid built in, so it works on its own.
Can I use this for cleaning? Yes. It's a gentle, non-toxic abrasive for tiles and worktops, a natural deodoriser, and it reacts with vinegar to help clear drains.
How should I store it? Keep it sealed in a cool, dry place away from damp, since moisture is what sets off the fizz.
