About our wild rice
Wild rice is the seed of an aquatic grass native to North America, not a true rice. It's naturally GMO-free and unprocessed, with a distinctive nutty flavour, firm chew and more protein than most rice.
How to cook wild rice
Rinse, then simmer in plenty of water for around 40–50 minutes until the grains split and curl. Serve in salads and pilafs, fold through other rice, or add to soups and stuffings.
Frequently asked questions about wild rice
Is wild rice actually rice?
No — it's the seed of an aquatic grass, though it's cooked and eaten like rice.
Is wild rice gluten-free?
Yes, wild rice is naturally gluten-free.
Why does wild rice take longer to cook?
Its tough outer bran means it needs around 40–50 minutes of simmering until the grains burst open.
