This Middle Eastern recipe is healthy, nutritious and very easy to make. All you need is some organic chickpea, tahini, lemon, garlic, olive oil and spices. Plus, a medium size bowl and a blender and max. 15 min of time. It pairs well with pickles, fresh or grilled veggies, bread, crisps, olives and more!

Ingredients

  • cooked chickpea 400 g
  • sea salt 1/2 tsp
  • tahini 2 tbsp
  • 1/2 lemon - juiced
  • 1 large garlic clove squeezed (or 2 small)
  • olive oil 2 tbsp + 1 tbs (for topping)
  • ground cumin 1 tsp
  • cold water 1-2 tbs
  • black pepper (for taste)
  • ground smoked pepper for topping

Directions

  1. Cooking dried chickpea: soak chickpea in water overnight. On the next day, wash it and cook it with a bit of salt until soft. Put aside until it gets cold.
  2. In a medium bowl, place cooked organic chickpea, add garlic, lemon juice, tahini and a 1-2 tbs of cold water.
  3. Use the kitchen blender to blend everything until it becomes smooth.
  4. Add a bit of more water if needed (it will make your houmous more fluffy). Add cumin, salt, pepper and mix together (you can also use blender here))
  5. Top it with a bit of extra virgin olive oil and smoked pepper.
  6. Serve it with bread, breadsticks, olives, pickles and cut veggies.
  7. Tip: Always use organic chickpea!
