What Is Chia Seeds?
Chia seeds have fast risen to dominance in the superfoods' industry, being one of the most popular and nutritional seeds you can add to your diet. They are harvested from a flowering plant, Salvia Hispanica, native to central and southern Mexico. They are oval and grey with white spots.
Why Should I Get Chia Seeds ?
Chia seeds are so beneficial because of their staggeringly dense nutritionally content. Locked away in those little black shells you will find a high amount of fibre, protein, Omega-3 and 6 fatty acids. Chia Seed are also ripe with essential fatty acids alpha-linolenic and linoleic acid, Vitamins A, B, E, D and they are also a rich source of anti-oxidants.
So chia seeds really are every bit as good as they seem, interestingly enough Chia Seed were actually a staple of Mayan & Aztec diets and as we all know now those guys were really ahead of their time!
It makes for wonderful smoothies especially with the addition of a little maca powder, however given the simple nature of the gel it's just as easy to add it to anything else and let me tell you I've seen it all, Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner! Chia seeds are as easy to work with as they are nutritional.
