Ingredients
- 4 apples Golden Delicious
- 1 handful oats
- 3 tbsp flour
- handful walnuts (chopped)
- 4 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp organic cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp organic ground ginger
- pinch salt
- 4 tbsp plant-based butter
- 4 tsp maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp ground anise (optional)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Prepare the apples: Wash the apples. cut off the top of each apple (don't throw them away). Remove the core of each apple with a small knife by cutting 2/3 of the way down in the middle of the fruit. Remove and discard the seeds and core. We recommend Golden Delicious apples, but you can also use other types.
- In a small bowl, mix together the oats, chopped walnuts, plain flour, brown sugar, and spices: cinnamon, ginger, anise and salt. Add melted butter and mix.
- Fill up the apples with it. Cover the apples with the top parts you have previously removed. Place the apples in a baking tray. Boil the water in the kettle and pour it on the bottom of the dish (1cm).
- Bake for approximately 40-45 minutes until the apples are tender. They should be slightly soft inside when pierced with a knife.
- Serve drizzled with maple syrup, vanilla ice cream and topped with extra cinnamon.
